She holds a Bachelor in Education degree (1997) and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (1996) from the University of Ottawa. As a teacher, her goal is to instill a love of learning within each of her students by creating a stimulating environment that fosters confidence and open communication. She is a patient, dedicated, caring and creative teacher who adapts her tutoring style to best fit the needs of her students.
Throughout her career, Sylvie has taught students at all grade levels in both French and English. She uses various tools and strategies to differentiate instruction as well as activity-based learning (e.g. role playing, games, computer-assisted learning, manipulatives, guided reading, sequencing activities, songs), in all subject areas to meet every student’s needs.
Over the past 15 years, Sylvie has attended numerous workshops, courses and conferences to keep abreast of new strategies and developments in the teaching profession and has conducted a pedagogical workshop for French Primary teachers. She has also created integrated units for teachers and students and developed and implemented a primary/junior intramural program. She also assisted in the review of OPHEA’s Health and Physical Education resource documents and in the implementation of Quality Daily Physical Education (QDPE) in five schools in the Kanata and Stittsville area.
Sylvie has been tutoring since high school. She currently offers private, one-on-one tutoring lessons in all subject areas in her own home in Bridlewood, Kanata.
